Wedding Information

Yay! You are engaged! I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in my photography. My style is simple, I think the images should speak for themselves. Without words, they should tell who you are as a person, about the relationship between two people in love. Every image at every wedding should illuminate your relationship. My documentary style photography follows you through your wedding with minimumal posing, allowing your natural beauty shine! My unique style blends together documentary coverage along with fun, kick-ass, beautiful portraits that show off you and tell your story. I want you to love your images forever!

What type of photography do you do?
I covers wedding  in a very journalistic style but don’t think photography should be bottled into one category or genre. While I am very hands-off, I do believe in the importance of gorgeous, posed images of the bride and groom together. I won’t stop you during the cake cutting, but I do like an hour (or more!) of you sometime during the day to create lasting images of you without your wedding party or guests looking on. I also know how much time you spent planning your big day, and I also focus on all the details that make up your wedding, from shoes, to the cake, decor, the dress and more! The reception and party is almost 100% candid. I won’t stop entire tables at the reception to make them pose, preferring instead to capture guests laughing, smiling, drinking, dancing and celebrating!

Do you still take posed family images?
Absolutely! I stronly believe in those family images, as they are a record of your entire family and a very important time in their history. A few weeks before the wedding I will send you a questionnaire covering the details of the day and among the other questions is a list of posed images – these are the family groupings that I traditionally photographs at each wedding she covers. you will have space to write in your own additional groupings.  PLEASE remember that I am known for my journalistic coverage and real life happenings, so a very long list of posed images will take away from my documentary style. I provides you with nine groupings and strongly suggests your final list include no more than 12 or 13 total. These groups are done quickly, more casual and absolutely painless!

Can we give you a shot list of photographs we want you to take?
No, please don’t. It’s very helpful know what important relatives and friends are coming, and if any events are significant, but repeated request for posed images or “Shot lists” is counterproductive to my work. I’ve photographed over 200 weddings, and rest assured, I will capture everything for you without needing to make sure I check off a list!

Is Shalista the only photographer?
Yes, I am the only photographer at Shalista Photography. You will always get me. I also bring an assistant to every wedding to help with lighting and gear and also light shooting.

Do you have an assistant? Another photographer?
yes. the assistant photographer does very minimal second-shooting and assists with lighting as needed. If you’d like a second photographer, I have a list of very qualified 2nd shooters you may add to any package.

How long does it take to get our products and images?
online galleries are posted within six weeks of the wedding date. printed proofs and the digital files are available within nine weeks of the wedding date. upon final approval of album designs most albums are ready for delivery within 12 weeks.

How many pictures will we get?
the number of photographs taken depends on many things – the number of guests, hours of coverage, types of events. our bare minimum is 500 images, but often it’s much, much higher.

Do we get to keep the negatives?
I provide the high-resolution digital files (the digital equivalent of negatives). when the files are released to you, I will provide you with a list of resources from which to get quality prints. I do retain the copyright to the images and the right to use them for promotional purposes, competition, professional review, and so on. You will get a written release that will allow you to make unlimited personal reproductions and copies for your friends and families.

Do you come to the rehearsal?
Rehearsal dinner coverage is available if you’d like to add it to your collection

What is the online gallery?
The online gallery is a private, password protected section on our website where all of your wedding photographs will be placed online for you and your family and friends to view. it is also a secure shopping cart – which allows you (and your family and friends) to order prints and cards and select album prints online. All you have to do is provide the password to anyone who you want to be able to view the images.

do you do engagement sessions?
Yes, i do.P lease take note that most engagement sessions have to be done Tuesday-Thursday because of a heavy wedding schedule but there is occasionally Friday or Monday availability and sometimes the rare Sunday (but not often!)
